Oven Finish Time 10 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes
Servings: 4 chops
Course: Dinner

Ingredients

For the Seasoning
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
For the Pork Chops
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 4 thick cut boneless pork chops

Equipment

  • Small bowl
  • Oven-safe skillet
  • Meat thermometer

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC). In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Remove the pork chops from their packaging. Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over all sides of each chop. The natural moisture on the meat will help the seasoning stick.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Once the oil shimmers, carefully place the seasoned pork chops in the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side until a nice brown crust forms.
  4. If your pork chops are thicker than one inch, transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part registers 145ºF (63ºC). Cook a few minutes longer if needed to reach the correct temperature.
  5. Before serving, dredge the pork chops through the flavorful sauce that has collected at the bottom of the pan.

Notes

This recipe is designed for simplicity and flavor. The combination of the sugar and spices creates a delicious crust, while the oven finish ensures the inside is cooked perfectly. Serve immediately to enjoy the best texture and taste.
