Method
- About 20-30 minutes before baking, take the pork chops out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish or a rimmed baking sheet lined with foil. Spray it with non-stick cooking spray or coat lightly with olive oil.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Sprinkle the dry rub evenly over both sides of the chops. Gently rub it in with your fingers.
- Place the seasoned pork chops in the prepared baking dish or on the baking sheet. Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the tops of the chops.
- Bake for 15-25 minutes. The exact time depends on if you are cooking bone-in or boneless chops and how thick they are. Start checking around 10-12 minutes if your pork chops are thinner. In the last 2-3 minutes of baking, turn the broiler on high to make the edges crisp and the top golden.
- Remove the pork chops from the oven once the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) on a digital meat thermometer. Let them rest for at least 3-5 minutes before serving. Serve with mashed potatoes and your favorite side dishes.
Notes
This recipe focuses on creating a crispy exterior and juicy interior for pork chops using oven baking. The resting time is crucial for retaining moisture.
